Twelve Congress MlAs, who have been in Delhi since Sunday, met AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi separately in Parliament premises in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"We have no mission of ousting or inducting anyone; rather it was simply a courtesy visit paid to the High Command during the ongoing Parliament session," said Jharsuguda MlA Naba Kishore Das, who reportedly led the team.
The visit of the 12 MlAs out of the party's total 16 has sparked speculations in the political circles as these MlAs visited Delhi without the knowledge of PCC president Prasad Harichandan, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
Sharply reacting to such developments, Bahinipati maintained that he had no 'mining money' to go to Delhi.
Senior party leader lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra told reporters that he had information that the MlAs are camping in Delhi opposing Bahinipati as Opposition Chief Whip in the Assembly.
Former PCC president Niranjan Patnaik said, "lulu Mohapatra's version about ousting Tara Prasad Bahinipati from his post cannot be relied on."
