A quick response to a tweet on social media by a Good Samaritan by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) saved five kids from being trafficked outside the State and led to arrest of three middlemen in Kandhamal district on Tuesday.

Reports said a youth, Amit Nanda, had sent a message on Twitter seeking intervention from State police and CMO after spotting the kids sleeping on the floor of the bus on Monday. The children would have worked as child labourers.

The CMO also responded to the Tweet and directed senior police officials to take steps for rescuing the minors. Immediately, the police swung into action and intercepted the bus here and rescued the kids and took into custody the middlemen.

later, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a Tweet stated “Appreciate swift action of State police to rescue 5 minors from bus. Sincere thanks to Good Samaritan @amitnanda11 for his prudence & help.”
