An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her tutor at Ambapada village under the Nikirai police limits in Kendrapada district.
The accused, identified as Ganesh Nayak (25), has been arrested.
According to reports, Nayak allegedly misbehaved with the minor girl and later raped her after tuition classes on Friday evening. Hearing screams of the victim, neighbours reached the spot, detained the teacher and then handed him over to police.
The family members of the girl have lodged a complaint with police in this regard. The accused has reportedly confessed to his crime.
