Forest officials of Sambalpur and Jujomura arrested Om Prakash Biswal, former president of BJP Jujomura Mandal, in connection with seizure of tusks from near a roadside dhaba in Kansar.
“On February 22, our staff under the same Jujomura police station seized huge quantity of tusks from a dhaba and arrested seven persons. But mastermind of the illegal trade, Om Prakash Biswal, who is also the former president of BJP Jujomura Mandal was absconding. We arrested him from Sambalpur in a marriage reception party,” informed Sadar Forest Range Officer TR Nayak.
“We came to know that Om Prakash had come to Bhatra area of the city to attend a marriage function. Subsequently, we arrested him from the Kalyan Mandap, where the function was going on,” he added. Clarifying the matter, Sambalpur BJP district president Ramachandra Meher said, “Biswal already has resigned from the party on February 15. Hence, our party has no relation with him.”
