In a tragic incident, a tusker trampled a woman to death at Sijukala village under the Champua Forest Range in Keonjhar district early on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as lali Mohanty. According to reports, the woman was attacked by the elephant when she had gone to the backyard of her housed to attend nature’s call.
On being informed, Forest Department officials with the help of villagers admitted lali to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
“ `10,000 will be provided to the family members of the deceased for last rites. As per Government norms, they
will be given a compensation of `3 lakh later,” said Balibandha Forester Dilip Kumar Sahoo.
