TUs' plea to reconsider proposed labour policy

The State wings of Central trade unions (TUs) on Sunday urged the Union Government to reconsider the proposed labour policy, which is scheduled to be adopted soon. State leaders of the unions submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Governor Dr SC Jamir in this regard on Sunday.

“We resent the proposed labour policy as it is anti-worker and pro-capitalist. This policy would empower employers to oust workers as and when they wish so. Hence, we urge the Prime Minister to reconsider the policy before its enactment,” the memorandum said.

The leaders who met the Governor included Youth INTUC  State president Satyabrata Nayak, BMS’ Basant Kumar Sahoo, HMS general secretary Jogendra Tripathy, CITU’s Nabkishore Mohanty, AICCTU’s Mahendra Kumar and AITUC leader and former MlA Narayan Reddy.
