The Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) on Wednesday recorded highest single day generation of 11.496 million units of electricity at 104.13 per cent Plant load Factor (PlF).
Earlier in 2015-16, the TTPS had emerged as the numerouno in the national ranking for highest capacity utilisation among all power stations in the country.
The oldest power plant of the State has four units of 60 MW and two units of 110 MW each. The TTPS would complete 50 years of operation in 2017.
Turnaround story of Talcher Thermal is a classic example of NTPC's enviable operation and maintenance practices which led to its life enhancement and spectacular journey from 19 per cent PlF in 1995 to a PlF of 90 per cent plus for the last eight years.
