Tsunami mock drill held in 64 K'pada villages

The Kendrapada district administration on Wednesday organised awareness programme and mock drills on Tsunami in 64 coastal villages.

Villagers were given tips how to save their lives and properties promptly during Tsunami like exigencies before the administration reach them,  informed ADM Dhananjay Swain.

ODRAF and fire tender personnel participated in the mock drills in the presence of district administration officials. The 64 villages, located within 1.5 km radius along the Bay of Bengal, have been identified as Tsunami-prone in the GIC survey conducted a decade ago.

The mock drills were organised to educate the skills related to evacuation and search and rescue operations during a Tsunami.

Even a tsunami demonstration warning alarm machine, brought from Hyderabad, was displayed. These machines would be installed in a total of 20 villages under Rajnagar and Mahakalpada blocks, as decided by the Government earlier.
