The Odisha Truck Owners’ Association on Monday threatened to launch an indefinite strike from January 15 if its demands are not met by the State Government.
A delegation of the association met Transport and Commerce Minister Subrat Tarai to discuss its seven-point charter of demands, including fare hike. The delegation demanded implementation of the report of the technical committee on fare hike with immediate effect.
After the meeting, the delegates told reporters that the association would launch its indefinite strike from the midnight on January 15 if its demands are not fulfilled. About 1,30,000 trucks would stay off the roads during the strike, they said.
