Trouble deepens for girl's parents as FIR lodged

Seeking to bring the father and the mother of the casting couch victim under the purview of the ongoing inquiry for their alleged attempt to divert the investigation process, the Friends Foundation Trust filed an FIR against the duo at the Mahila police station here on Thursday.

On behalf of the minor girl victim, the Friends Foundation Trust had also earlier lodged a complaint with the police about the sexual harassment meted out to the girl by Ollywood actor Tattwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pompom and his aide Pradip Swain alias Gitu, resulting in their arrest.

The trust alleged that the parents of the girl are trying to divert the investigation process by making unreasonable statements to the media instead of cooperating with the police and the Khorda Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in the investigation process.

On Monday, the victim’s father had filed a compromise affidavit at the Khorda District and Sessions Judge, saying he does not want to proceed with the case and appealed to the court to grant bail to 43-year-old actor Papu, currently in the Jharpada jail after his arrest on June 30.

On Wednesday too, reiterating her husband’s version, mother of the girl said that since the matter has already been settled amicably, there is no need to fight a legal battle.

The girl’s father even claimed that the girl whom the police had taken to court for recording her statement was not his daughter.
