Protesting the State Government’s alleged anti-tribal and anti-Dalit measures, tribal and Dalit leaders on Thursday announced to hold a mega Swabhiman Samavesh here on November 15 on the 142nd birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter Veer Birsa Munda.
Biramitrapur Independent MlA George Tirkey told reporters here that the protest would he held under the banner of the Adivasi, Dalits, Minority and Other Backward Class Ekta Parishad.
Tirkey said nearly 50,000 protesters from across the State would participate in the rally.
The leaders demanded immediate fulfilment of their 13-point charter of demands, the major among them being social security and a holistic development of tribals.
“On November 15, a large gathering is expected from all over the State to vow to follow the path of Birsa Munda and to carry out his vision in their villages. The inspiration of Birsa Munda will be our hope as the present Government’s governance systems are totally anti-tribal and anti-poor,” said Tirkey.
Manas Jena, Bhajaman Behrea and many other political and social leaders were present at the news conference.
