Founding member Nicolas Barla inspired the house with the objective of the forum.  SC and ST Development Minister lalbihari Himrika, Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi and Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sundam Marandi graced the occasion as guests.

Himrika emphasised that the identity and dignity of the adivasis be protected. The adivasis should be proud of their culture, identity, language and sustainable use of resources.

In his speech, Majhi focused on the role of the State in protecting the rights of the indigenous communities, and making a comprehensive approach to reach the unreached.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the non-implementation of the PESA 1996, Marandi inspired the house with the heroic struggles of tribals against the British imperialism and the following uprisings in the independent India.

He emphasized on the establishment of tribal self-governance in the PESA and Scheduled areas as enshrined in the Indian constitution. He said efforts should be initiated soon to increase tribal representation in all political spheres.
