The body of Bhimarao Wataka, who was lynched to death on September 8, was recovered from the Nagabali river.

It was seen first by one Senapati Wataka of Aduguda village, who informed to the villagers and later the villagers informed about it to the police. The body was kept in a gunny bag, which was floating in the river. Police personnel fished out the body. Bhimrao’s hands and legs were tied with towel and lungi. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members.

As per the information from the police, there were serious injury marks on the chest, neck and ear of the body. One side of Bhima’s head was tonsured. The police on Saturday arrested one of the two accused, Sadananda Wataka while released the other, Santosh Wataka after interrogation.

An FIR was filed by Nandai Wataka, wife of late Bhimarao in this connection. According to the police, twelve more persons are involved in the case. It may be noted that Sadananda Wataka, Binanda Wataka and Purusati Wataka had dragged Bhimarao suspecting him to be practicing sorcery and tied him with an electric pole in the middle of the village Bheja.

They got half of his head tonsured and thrashed him very badly with sticks and stones. Then they took Bhimarao round the village while mercilessly beating and stone pelting continued till he succumbed to his injuries. The culprits later threw the body into the Nagabali river.
