Triangular fights for two Gajapati Assembly seats

Published on:

Two Assembly seats of Gajapati district, Paralakhemundi and Mohana, are all set to witness triangular fights in the ensuing elections. While 11 candidates are in the fray in the Paralakhemundi constituency, nine aspirants are contesting from the Mohana Assembly seat.

With several political parties having started their campaigning in the Paralakhemundi constituency, it is generally being viewed that the competition is mainly between three political heavyweights, Congress candidate K Suriya Rao, BJD’s K Narayan Rao and BJP’s Tripati Nayak. Besides, other parties like the AAP, OJM, CPM(l), Aama Odisha have been leaving no stone unturned to garner public support.

The situation is quite uncertain for the Mohana constituency as the three major parties, the BJD, Congress and BJP are in apprehension in view of their respective rebel candidates.

While BJP’s Antaryami Gamang resigned from the party for not getting a ticket and joined the BJD, Mohana MlA Chakradhar Paika is contesting as an Independent candidate opposing the Congress’ decision to give ticket to Dasarathi Gamang instead the party’s sitting MlA.However, it is expected to be a triangular contest between the three major parties in Mohana too.
