Trial run of PPT sewage plants held

Published on:

Keeping in view the long-felt need of the locality, test trial runs of two sewage treatment plants (STPs) of a total daily capacity of approximately 4.5 million litres were started in Paradip by PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy on Monday.

The STPs are stat-of-the-art facilities and have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 22 crore. The key highlights of these STPs are conversion of sewage water into manure and water that can be used for gardening and sprinkling activities. The much-awaited STPs have been constructed with the technical assistance from Richardson & Cruddas (1972) Ltd, Mumbai.  This is the first phase of the integrated sanitation project, which aims at improving overall sanitation through discharge of waste water after proper treatment. The two plants will become fully operational in December.
