Books and trees have close links. For protection of the trees and books, an Abhiyan (campaign) would be held across the State beginning from the Khordha Book Fair from Tuesday, informed Prerana president Dr Dilip Srichandan at a Press meet here on Sunday.
For the papers and books, plantation of trees and forest protection is necessary, otherwise there would be a threat for survival of papers, Srichandan said. For 500 copies of 100-pages demy size book, 162 big bamboo trees are necessary, he said. For 15 copies of 16-pages newspaper, two bamboo trees would be wasted, he added.
Srichandan requested all the tree and book lovers to join the Abhiyan.
