Barbil being a mining town, vehicles from different parts of the country come to this town for the purpose of carrying iron ores and others minerals daily and thereby creating traffic problem.
The common people here, particularly the school going children and patients, face a lot of difficulties in reaching to their destinations.
In this regard, delay in construction of NH- 215 from Rimuli to Rajamunda is not only adding to the problem, but many valuable lives are lost due to accident every day. However, to end the problem, recently a ring road bypassing the Barbil town has been sanctioned from the DMF fund which is a long term solution.
Dayal Singh and Chandragupta Prasad, newly elected president and secretary of Mining Area
Truck Owners Association (MATOA) and leaders of different social organisations have demanded that some permanent traffic police posts be created to regulate the system more efficiently.
They alleged that authorities have given scant attention to this and the traffic posts are run by the private security guards engaged on behalf of some private companies, monitored by the local police.
