Transport hitch: IFFCO fertilisers not dispatched

Published on:

The Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative limited (IFFCO) has expressed concern over transporting problem due to non-cooperation by a small segment of transport workers engaged through IFFCO's authorised transport contractor Kaling a Transport Cooperative Society limited.

In a Press release, the IFFCO said it came to know from media reports and a large number of phone calls received from various farmers’ societies and farmers, that there is acute shortage of fertilisers these days which is the peak season of agriculture.

The release further stated that though the production of fertiliser is adequate, the supply is hampered due to the restrictive practices adopted by a small segment of transport workers engaged through the authorised transport contractor. Some drivers and helpers are not cooperating in transportation of bagged fertiliser from the IFFCO's plant to dispatch point i.e. Rangiagarh railway siding without any valid reason or prior information.

“The capacity of our silo has been fully utilised and packed with finished product. The IFFCO is incurring huge financial losses which may lead to shutdown of the fertiliser unit. Also, the IFFCO is constantly persuading with the M/s Kalinga Transport Cooperative Society limited to resolve its problem and resume full movement of trucks to speed up the fertillser transporting,”  informed by DGM(P and A), IFFCO, SR Maurya.
