Transgenders walk the ramp at KIIT fest

Published on:

Shweta Parekh launched  her Pattachitra style collection with transgenders  at "Kritharth",  an annual social awareness festival held at the KIIT University here.

Meera Parida, Mahamandelswar of eastern India, walked the ramp in Sweta Parekh's Pattachitra based western collection. Transgender also walked the ramp with Parekh costumes.

As transgenders are looked down upon by the people of the society, in spite of so many laws in their favour, they still face a lot of severe discrimination. The major reason for their exploitation is lack of legal protection.

The programme was meant to raise their confidence and create an awareness regarding transgenders’ rights.
