Tansgenders (TGs) will now take part in promotional campaigns to place Bhubaneswar in the top 20 Smart Cities of the country.

At a discussion held at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office on Saturday, Kinnar Sangh president Pratap Sahu said the third gender would extend all possible assistance needed to place Bhubaneswar in the top-20 Smart Cities.

Around a hundred eunuchs from the city participated in the meeting organised by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Mission. The transgenders also discussed about their rights and plans for a Smart City. Their suggestions included special toilets and community halls for the third genders, reservation of seats for them in hospitals, railways and buses, equal employment opportunity, free education, ID cards, skill development training, inclusion of TGs in different social welfare schemes, etc.

Among others, Meera Kinnar, Sadhana Kinnar, Megha Kinnar and Preeti and Anwishika from the Humara Bachpan campaign were present at the meeting.
