Police arrested a youth on Wednesday in connection with the suicide of a transgender Priya, who committed suicide at Ganapati Nagar slum under the Nayapalli police station on Monday.
The accused was identified as Bhawani Shankar Sahoo, a boyfriend of transgender Priya.
He was arrested on the basis of complaint lodged by transgender association president Menaka.
Sources said Priya and Bhawani were in live-in relationship and residing at Ganapati Nagar slum.
The unmarried couple went through bitter phase after Priya started suspecting Bhawani. Even they had fights over the issue many times.
Priya took the extreme step following a heated argument over a message sent by a woman on Bhawani’s WhatsApp on Sunday night.
