A training programme on coronavirus COVID 2019 was organised at the PPT Hospital on Wednesday as per the instruction of the Union Government. PPT Deputy Chairman AK Bose declared the training session open in the presence of Dr P Panda, CMO, PPT.

Bose reiterated that the Paradip Port Trust would not leave any stone unturned to prevent the entry of any infectious disease, including the COVID-19 through this port. The port is fully prepared to tackle the unfolding scenario of the spreading of the viral disease affecting nearly 1,18,000 people globally. Bose emphasised on protection of the healthcare workforce while on duty so that they can take care of the others.

Imparting training to the gathering of principals/headmasters of local schools, representatives from stevedores and steamer agents, CISF and Coast Guard units, doctors and paramedics and representatives from various departments, Dr Panda highlighted practice of various precautionary and self-protection measures for prevention of the disease.
