Published on:

A month after the tragic triple train accident in Baleswar district, the Railways authorities have transferred South Eastern Railway General Manager Archana Joshi.

The Appointments Committee of the Central Cabinet, on the recommendation of the Railway Board, approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Misra, an Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers officer, as the new GM of SE Railway.

Archana Joshi was transferred as the GM to the Rail Wheel Factory in Karnataka.

Last week, the Railway Board had transferred five senior SER officials, including the AGM and the DRM, who were responsible for operations, safety and signalling that led to the train crash claiming over 293 lives. Earlier, the Additional General Manager had been transferred nearly a fortnight after the train tragedy.

During the probe into the incident, interference with the interlocking system, which is an automated signalling system, was seen as the major cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, out of the 81 passengers’ bodies preserved at the Bhubaneswar AIIMS, 29 have been identified based on the DNA test reports. Six of them were handed over to their families on Friday.
