Published on:

local Sangram Samiti recently submitted a memorandum to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan demanding his intervention for a train passenger-halt in the Ankuli Industrial area here at the earliest.

The samiti apprised the Minister that earlier a memorandum had been submitted to Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu in this regard. Railway officials have also visited the location and sent the report to the Railway Board for approval.

They requested Pradhan to intervene and expedite the process so that Ankuli would have a train stoppage.

Samiti members said residents of five gram panchayats and workers and employees of industrial area are mainly dependent of trains for transportation purposes. They go around 10-12 km to reach the city railway station. The problem would be solved if trains have stoppages at Ankuli.

Among others, Samiti president Panchanan Choudhury, advisors Brundaban Sabat and Sudam Das handed over the memorandum.
