The gateway to Paradip has turned a death trap. Every day there are minor and major accidents occurring and many people are left injured or disabled.
The main gate of Paradip Port, the road from Atharbanki to Bhutanundai, is in a rough state. This is because of illegal roadside parking, irregular maintenance of roads and poor traffic management. The issue has been taken up with the administration on regular basis but still no action has been taken.
In this regard, the working journalists have raised a demand for immediate repair of the road. They submitted a demand letter to the Jagatsinghpur DM recently.
At a joint meeting in May, the Jagatsinghpur district administration had said the traffic problem would be resolved within seven days and that illegal parking would be removed. But even though the promise was about to be fulfilled a month ago, the traffic system has been in a state of disarray. If no action is taken by the district administration within the next seven days, the journalists in Paradip have threatened to block the road
