When some industries in the State are in dismal condition and some other are in still worse shape due to scarcity of raw materials like coal, mafias at the same time illegally transport coal outside the State to get more benefit out of it. Due to the illegal transportation of coal, the State Government has lost crores of rupees daily, sources said.
As per guidelines, buyers and sellers have to produce weigh bills of the materials before their transportation to other States. “But it is not followed in the case of transportation of coal, as a result of which Odisha heavily loses revenue,” said the sources.
The sources said coal traders have been transferring their stocks to other States by showing that they have their own firms in the respective State. But it is ascertained that the businessmen have no firms in other States, but they transport the material by producing fake documents of firms to befool the Government agencies.
The sources alleged that the mafias run their coal business with the help of some Government officials. So, the Government has to take stringent action against the officials and businessmen by ordering an investigating agency like the Crime Branch (CB) to probe the case.
