Despite unfavourable conditions like frequent natural disasters, the Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) is focusing on supplying power undeterred 24X7. It carries out regular planned maintenance of its vast network to provide interrupted power supply. Thermal scanning of equipments is done. The thermal imagining cameras are used to detect areas of concern where a failure is about to happen due to overheating of the equipment/network. Besides, condition-based maintenance for the 33-KV and 11-KV networks has been initiated in three divisions of Bhubaneswar. A total of 2174 transformers and 1,054-km line length of 11-KV feeder were scanned. This has helped in identifying 1,780 hotspots with temperature greater than 100?C which were immediately taken up for corrective action.
The areas identified for thermal scanning was done keeping essential services such as Covid Hospitals, oxygen plants, vaccination centres, quarantine centres, etc., as the top priority.
