The Badmal police on Monday arrested Vedanta deputy manager (Operation) Sibendra Tiwari and his wife Swapnil Tiwari for torturing a 12-year-old girl of Chhattisgarh who was working as a domestic help in their house.
“Tiwari had engaged me as domestic help in his flat six months ago and for some negligence he and his wife tortured me,” said the minor girl before the police.
Sources said that on Sunday, the security guard of the flat, in which Tiwari was residing, seeing the girl weeping on the roof top had informed the Childline. Later the Jharsuguda Childline had rescued the girl from the flat with the help of the Badmal police.
Police registered a case against the couple and forwarded them to court on Monday.
