Bhubaneswar police on Friday rescued a minor girl with wounds in her legs from the Dumduma market.
According to sources, the victim was tortured by her house owner after her parents left for work.
“The house owner beat me and later branded me with hot iron rods as I refused to go to school,” said the girl. Following the torture, the victim managed to flee from the house to the Dumduma market.
“The girl was crying and waited for a bus. When we inquired, she told us the details, following which we informed the police,” said Tukuna Das, a local.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said stringent action would be taken against the guilty.
