Ahead of the Belpahar Municipality elections on April 7, many political heavyweights are on frequent visits to the industrial town to campaign for their respective party candidates. On Wednesday, while several meetings were held by the BJP and BJD parties, the Congress workers organised foot march in the town. At a meeting at Brajrajnagar, BJP MlA Radharani Panda assured to remove the existing drinking water problem of Belpahar town and would get the required fund from the MCl.
While BJP State vice-president Pratap Sarangi expressed concern over the miserable road condition in the town, Sundargarh BJP MP and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Juel Oram reiterated the party’s commitment for all-round development of the town. The BJP also published its Election Manifesto on the occasion. For Congress, Jharsuguda MlA Naba Kishore Das, G Udayagiri MlA Jacob Pradhan and former Speaker Kishore Patel were seen busy in door-to-door campaigning to garner more public support. As a majority of BJD voters are from the town areas, the party carried out a high voltage campaign involving all its Ministers and MlAs led by WODC Chairman Kishore Kumar Mohanty and former MlA Anup Sai.
