Congress workers on Tuesday displayed black flags at Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu in Rajanagar of the district.
They also hurled tomatoes at the Ministers’ car. As many as 15 Congress activists were detained by police from the spot.
The incident took place while the Minister was on his way to inaugurate the State Government’s food security scheme in some areas of the district.
The protestors alleged that many ruling party workers have been enlisted in the scheme while many eligible beneficiaries have been left out.
Earlier in the day, Congress workers led by Aul MLA Debendra Sharma had shown black flags at Niala Chhak ahead of the Minister’s visit alleging irregularities in the distribution of ration cards. The MLA and the workers were also detained by police. PNS
