With an aim to curb PC (percentage) taking culture in various departments, the Statee Government has decided to launch a toll-free number to receive grievances from the people.
The Panchayati Raj (PR) Department would be the first to introduce the toll-free number, said Minister Pradeep Maharathy on Thursday.
He said the toll-free number would be issued as per the direction of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to fight corruption. A three-member committee has been formed for the purpose.
However, he refuted allegations that PC culture is a common state of affairs in block offices under the Panchayati Raj Department.
Maharathy said the committee is taking strong action against officials after sudden visit to different blocks and offices. Total 403 officers have been asked for explanation on allegation of corruption leveled against them so far. While 262 officers have been served show-cause notices, 78 have been suspended, he informed.
“I am frequently visiting various blocks to check everything but I am yet to notice PC culture in my department,” he said.
