The collection of toll from buses at the new Hassanpur toll plaza on National Highway-20 in Keonjhar district, led to a faceoff between the private bus owners’ association and staffs of the plaza on Thursday.
This resulted in disruption of vehicular communication for hours. Reports said the members of the local bus association opposed the toll tax collection at the plaza, demanding concession in fares but the toll plaza staffs did not listen to their pleas. This was strongly opposed by the bus owners.
Getting information, the Ramchadra police station personnel rushed to the spot and held discussions with both the warring groups and pacified them. Meanwhile, the toll plaza authorities have stopped collection of toll from buses till a final decision is taken on the issue.
