The State Government has set July 31 as deadline for completion of toilet construction works in all schools. Chief Secretary GC Pati set this deadline while reviewing School Sanitation Programme with the District Collector through a video-conferencing at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday. He asked all Collectors to complete construction work of new toilets and make all old toilets functional by July-end.
Pati also asked them to set up low-cost functional toilets in remote and difficult areas where construction of permanent toilets are pending.
School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra, who was present, advised the Collectors to engage District Education Officers, Block Education Officers and other officers of S and ME Department for coordination, supervision and monitoring works. Besides, he wanted that school management committees be actively involved in this work. The OPEPA was asked to issue guidelines for operation and maintenance of toilets.
