Under the direction of Gajapati district Collector SM Samal, the Paralakhemundi excise police on Friday seized 125 kg of ganja worth Rs 4-Rs 5 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection.
The excise sleuths also seized two vehicles that were used to ferry the contraband to Brahmapur. While one vehicle was seized near Komlapur Chaka with two sacks containing ganja, the second vehicle loaded with three ganja sacks was seized near the luhagudi Gate.
Excise Inspector Prasana Kumar Nayak said a joint operation has been conducted for the last two days in areas under the Adava police limits at Mohana block under the leadership of Excise Superintend Ahmed Ulla Khan.
The arrested were identified as Rohit Sethy of Vasiguda near Degapandi in Ganjam district and Balmiki Dalai of Adava under Mohana block in Gajapati district.
