TMC MP bail plea: HC reserves verdict

The Orissa High Court on Monday reserved its verdict after completion of hearing on the bail application of arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhaya.

Arrested by the CBI from Kolkata on January 3 this year for his alleged involvement in the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam, the TMC chief whip in lok Sabha is currently lodged in the Special Jail at Jharpada in Bhubaneswar.

Bandyopadhaya has approached the High Court in February seeking regular bail after his bail applications were rejected by the CBI designated court in Bhubaneswar and the Khordha District Sessions Court.

Along with Bandyopadhaya, the CBI has also arrested another TMC MP, Tapas Paul, for his alleged complicacies in the same chit fund scam.
