The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday demanded a Crime Branch (CB) probe into the mysterious death of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering (BOSE) student Paresh Singh while alleging that the local police and the school authorities are trying to suppress the truth by terming it as a suicide case.
It may be noted that the body of Paresh was found hanging in his hostel room on February 27.
“Remaining silent over a month, the Mangalabag police recently claimed that it was a suicide case. This was done to hush up the matter,” alleged TMC State president Aryakumar Jnanendra at a Press meet here.
He said the police and the college authorities have displayed a lax attitude towards the incident and have not gone deep enough to unearth the truth.
He said a person cannot commit suicide with a thick Kolapuri bed-sheet that the police recovered.
He said the roommate’s cell phones were seized but the call records were not scrutinised properly. The kin of Paresh had provided various documents to the police to conduct a thorough probe but sadly the police have turned a deaf ear and are casually investigating the case.
He questioned how the roommate alone untied the body from the ceiling fan and brought it down from 16 feet height without taking assistance of anyone. He also wanted to know who took the body to the SCB Medical College and Hospital and who informed his parents. All this questions need to be answered, he said.
He said Paresh was a very polite and innocent boy and a day before his death he had spent time with his friends in a happy mood.
The police have not taken many college staffs including security guards, hostel superintendent, college chairman, and others into the purview of investigations. Hence, a Crime Branch can unravel the truth, said Jnanendra. He said, “I have contacted the DGP to look into the matter properly but he has not answered the mail. The DGP’s instructions to his juniors to use the social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook is of no use if they don’t answer mails,” he said.
He has sent a letter to PMO regarding the incident and they have asked the concerned authorities to submit an action taken report, said Jnanendra.
