Police arrested notorious gangster Tito’s brother Syed Imran Ali alias Sapho on the charge of tender-fixing in Kendrapada district late on Monday night.
Sapho was accused of fixing tenders of `10 crore called by the Water Resources Department and a case had been registered in this regard.
Over 13 cases are pending against Sapho at various Police Stations in the district, Kendrapada SP Nitinjeet Singh said.
Sapho is the brother of Seikh Usman Ali alias Tito, who controls a crime syndicate masterminding fixing of tenders of various construction division offices.
The State police have intensified their crackdown on tender-fixing mafia following the arrest of the Dhalsamant brothers on charges of tender-fixing and extortion in Bhubaneswar.
The Sambalpur police on Monday arrested 12 persons allegedly involved in tender-fixing. Besides, police seized firearms from their possession. A BSP MlA candidate in the last Assembly elections was among the arrested persons. Three mousers, four single shot country-made revolvers and a single shot pipe gun besides 20 rounds of ammunition were seized from their possession.
