The Special Task Force (STF) of the State Crime Branch, which has been carrying intensive crackdowns against notorious gangster Tito and his associates, on Sunday, cconducted simultaneous raids on the residence and business establishments of one Diptiranjan Das in Jagatsinghpur district.
The STF personnel led by DSP Ramchandra Thamba initially raided Das’ residence at Mukundpur under the Sadar police station. A gun, 12 live bullets, Rs 64,000 cash, bank passbooks, LIC bonds and some incriminating documents were seized.
Later, raids were carried out at Brundaban Guesthouse, Nirmala Residency owned by Das. A glass and ply shop belonging to him was also raided.
A flat at the King Palace apartments in Patia, which also belongs to Das was also raided by the STF sleuths.
Das, a contractor by profession, who has executed some major works and owns a number of guesthouses in Jagatsinghpur district, is under the STF lens for his alleged links with Tito.
DSP Thamaba said the raids were carried out on the instructions of the Crime Branch IG. Das was detained for questioning and further investigations were on.
