Hearing the false affidavit case against Tirtol MlA Rabi Bhoi, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Saran Kumar Jena on Thursday deferred the matter till November 26 for further hearing, after Bhoi sought more time for submission of reply and getting copy of the allegations filed against him
Bhoi is in soup after it was found through an RTI disclosure that he had furnished false information in regard to his educational qualification during filing of nomination papers in the 2009 elections.
The matter had created uproar across the State. later, lawyers Satyajit Das and Gagan Das and defeated Congress candidate from Tirtol Raj Kishor Behera had filed three separate petitions with the Election Commission of India seeking action against Bhoi for his false affidavit.
Acting on the complaints, the ECI had asked the ADM, Jagatsinghpur, who was the then Returning Officer, to study the allegations and submit a report on it. Responding to the ECI’s instruction, the ADM had called the three petitioners and MlA Bhoi on Thursday for hearing of the case.
