Ahead of the Tirtol Assembly bye-election in Jagatsinghpur district, the Congress on Thursday demanded transfer of district Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra for conduct of free and fair poll.
Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray along with his supporters met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and submitted a memorandum urging him to appoint a new Collector for conducting the by-poll scheduled for November 3.
The memorandum stated that Mohapatra belongs to a family that strongly supports the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Tirtol.Routray said Mohapatra is the son of Sarat Chandra Mohapatra.
