Vigilance forest wing sleuths conducted a raid on a saw mill at lochapada on the city outskirts and seized over 100 cubic feet of timbers worth Rs4 lakh recently.
The saw mill belonged to one Subash Chandra Choudhury of Gate Bazar in Brahmapur.
“All the seized materials were handed over to the Brahmapur forest range office after a case was registered. The accused has been arrested,” informed the Vigilance SP.
Similarly in another incident, the Vigilance Special Court, Phulbani sentenced Boudh district’s Similipadar gram panchayat VlW Satya Narayana Pradhan to undergo two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs10, 000 while convicting him in a bribe case.
Pradhan had in March 2011 demanded and accepted Rs4,000 as graft from one Jagannath Mohapatra of Patharla under the same GP for forwarding his SGSY loan application to the State Bank of India’s Palsaguda Branch.
Pradhan would undergo another six months of RI if fails to pay the fine amount, said the court.
