Tigress Megha under surveillance

Published on:

Injured tigress Megha has been put under surveillance by the authorities after her fight with another tigress Bijaya and her two cubs at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here.

Megha was found unstable, disturbed and irritated, for which she was not allowed to stay in the enclosure. The zoo authorities have kept a close watch on the activities of the injured tigress.

On the other hand, two cubs Adyasha and Sahil were put inside the zoo enclosure after vaccinating them. They were injured in the fight on Saturday.

Notably, Megha (9), who was in enclosure no 31-A, was injured after she jumped the enclosure and attacked Bijaya and her two cubs Adyasha and Sahil in enclosure no 32-B. All of them, Megha, Bijaya and the cubs, sustained minor injuries during the fight.

The authorities reached the spot and separated them. A team of doctors examined their health conditions and vaccinated them for their safety.

However, the reason behind jumping the enclosure by Megha is yet to be ascertained. The investigation is underway why Megha climbed the grill and entered the enclosure where Bijaya and her cubs were staying.

Zoo officials have started repairing the grill and the fence. The authorities are planning for a double line fence at the enclosures.
