Two women who had gone to collect fodder in the woods were attacked and injured by the tigress which had injured two forest department workers in the past. This tigress is moving along with two cubs and hence acting aggressively.

Chorpani village residents Bharti Devi and Asha Devi had gone to the woods to collect fodder for their domesticated animals during the morning. It is stated that the tigress was sitting near the Chorpani source in Bijrani range of Corbett tiger reserve. The big cat attacked the two women but later left them injured after they made noise. The others reached the site and transported the injured women to the government hospital where they were treated for the injuries.

Corbett warden Ramakant Tiwari said that in the past two the same tigress is believed to have injured two forest personnel in the region. The department has kept tabs on her movement since then and has also installed camera traps to watch her movements. However, despite repeated warnings, the women entered an area they should not have gone to, which resulted in the conflict situation. Tiwari further informed that the tigress who has mothered two cubs is on the move consistently and the locals are being constantly warned against venturing into such areas. The department personnel have also stepped up patrolling while raising awareness in the public against entering areas where the tigress is present.
