Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh on Saturday reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Baleswar on June 2.
He said adequate arrangements have been made in view of an expected high turnout at the meeting place as well as inside the town.
“We have already selected the Bampada area for the public meeting. The helipad and the meeting ground will be a single place,” Singh said.
“All the arrangements have been made as per Blue Book. We are pressing into service four SPs, five Additional SPs, six Inspectors, 12 DSPs, 130 SIs and Inspectors and 16 platoons of armed police for the event,” he stated.
He also announced diversion of traffic as the meeting place is close to NH-5. “Traffic diversion has been made near Bhadrak, which is leading to Mayurbhanj. Besides, separate routes have been designated for four-wheelers, heavy vehicles and two-wheelers,” he mentioned.
Asked about intelligence input on a possible terror plot considering Baleswar’s proximity to Chandipur and the latter being a high security zone due to the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Singh said, “Our intelligence is working overtime, and we are alert to the situation.”
Meanwhile, there has been a change in the timing of the Prime Minister’s visit. Instead of 3.45 pm as originally scheduled, the PM would arrive at 9 am, official sources said.
