On the second day of its visit, the three-member team of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) on Tuesday visited the Satkosia tiger reserve in Angul district to study the feasibility of the place to take a decision on relocation of the male wild tiger that has strayed into the Nandankanan Zoo.
The team along with the Satkosia DFO visited nearly ten different places in the reserve and would visit the Mahanadi Wildlife Division on Wednesday, sources said.
“We visited different areas in the tiger reserve to study various aspects like water sources, play bases and habitats. After our thorough inspection on various issues, we will take a suitable decision,” said team member Dr Parag Nigam.
Sources said the team would submit its report on the fate of the tiger to the State Government on Thursday. Earlier the State Wildlife Warden had said the relocation of the tiger would be taken after a wider consultation with the NTCA.
On the other hand, since last ten days the tiger safari at the Nandankanan zoo has remained closed as the wild tiger is not coming to the special enclosure. The zoo authorities have taken this decision for the safety of visitors.
