As many as 18 districts in the State are likely to witness thunderstorm and lightning in the next 24 hours, predicted the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Thursday.
The alert has been issued for Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
IMD has also issued heavy rainfall warning for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada in the next 24 hours.
Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs of August 26 up to 0830 hrs IST of August 27 Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal and Rayagada districts.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapada.
On Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs of 27 upto 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2021)
Yellow Warning (To be update: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Dhenkanal.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Boudh, Angul, Balangir and Cuttack.
Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of August 28 up to 0830 hrs of August 29): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Bargarh and Sundargarh.
