Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Babul Supriyo on Thursday took a jibe at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress saying that if the workers of the two parties hurled eggs at him, he would make omelet with it and devour it.
He also invited the protestors to hurl onion and other items that make omelet tastier.
Supriyo’s remarks came during his two-day visit to the State to attend a Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash Sammelan in Bhadrak and Baleswar districts on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
“I am a non-vegetarian. If BJD and Congress workers hurl eggs at me, I will make omelet with it and eat it,” he said derisively. “The Congress and the BJD are looting the State,” he alleged.
Supriyo’s remarks came in the wake of the attack on Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram’s vehicle with eggs while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was on his way to Kendrapada on Wednesday.
Congress workers had also targeted Oram waiving black flags at him.
Protesting the hurling of eggs at Oram’s vehicle in Kendrapada district, the BJP Sundargarh district unit has called for a seven-hour Sundargarh Bandh on Friday.
Oram is the MP of Sundargarh.
Demanding arrest of the persons involved in the incident, the party decided to observe the shutdown from 6 am to 1 pm.
Senior BJP leader Braja Sundar Bhuyan has filed an FIR at the Ali police station accusing 22 persons for the incident.
