The Baleswar police on Friday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of hardcore criminal Khasua that took place on Wednesday evening.  They were identified as Satyaranjan Das (20) of Sovarampur, Subrat Shaw (22) of Samalpur and Nepali (19) of Chandmaripadia. The trio was forwarded to court.

The police said the incident was a fallout of old animosity between two rival groups, the one headed by Papa Panda and the other led by Khasua. The motive behind the killing of Khasua alias Susant Das was a dispute over sand quarry leasing. In a Press brief on Saturday, DSP (crime) Amresh Panda said, “The motive behind the murder was acute acrimony between two warring groups and the latest one was over sand quarrying.”

The prime accused Papa Panda is at large.

The DSP narrated that 30 persons attacked Khasua with a sharp chopper, a wooden plank, stones and glasses. He said that the materials were seized from the site in a field near the Balasore College.
