Normally, Vigilance officers arrest persons taking bribe but here the case is reverse. A Vigilance team led by MR Panda (SP Vig) arrested three persons at Jharsuguda, who were trying to bribe a police officer to get his favour on Monday. The trio was forwarded to court.

As per information, the Jharsuguda police had arrested Gangadhar Dehuri (65), Nagarjuna Amat (45) and Debananda Sahu (27) from the bus stand while they carrying ganja with them.

However, in order to escape action, the trio tried to lure Jharsuguda police station IIC Nirmal Mahapatra with a bribe sum of Rs 1 lakh to sabotage the case. Mahapatra also acted like agreeing to their proposal and informed the matter to Jharsuguda SP S Shyni. The matter was also informed to the Vigilance at Sambalpur which remained prepared to nab the persons trying to bribe the police.

As per the previous discussion, the trio reached the police station with the cash and handed over it to Mahapatra. But Vigilance police who were ready to nab them immediately swooped down on the trio and seized the cash. The matter has become a subject of discussion in the locality since arrest of the bribe givers is a rare case.
